StencilCoat for the Base Coat

1.   Use StencilCoat for both the base and the top coats. StencilCoat is shipped in 5 gallon pails and is in an accent base form, which requires the addition of LiquidTint.

2.   Remove the lid of the pail, mix coating for 30 seconds using a jiffler type mixing paddle on a variable speed drill. Mixing drill speed of 400 to 600 rpm (revolutions per minute) is ideal. A variable speed mixing drill will allow for greater mixing control.

3.   Add 1 pint of LiquidTint to 5 gallons of StencilCoat. Mix again for 1 to 2 minutes until color is even.

4.   Add 1 pint of water to 5 gallons of StencilCoat when applying at temperatures between 45° F to 75° F. When applying StencilCoat at temperatures above 75° F it may be necessary to add up to 3 pints of water to 5 gallons of StencilCoat.

Important:, adding more than 3 pints of water to 5 gallons of Stencil-Coat base, can severely degrade the coating properties.

5.   The base coat can be applied using the chosen grout color (when using the stencil system), or can be applied using the top coat color (when applying a solid color without a pattern). Two coats are recommended for solid color applications.

6.   It is not necessary to add GripSil to the base coat unless the substrate is smooth and a textured groutline is desired. The base coat is designed to bond securely to the substrate allowing for an ideal bond face for the top coat (two top coats in the case of the stencil system).

StencilCoat for the Top Coats

1.   For the top coats, follow the same mixing instruction as above with addition of the GripSil anti-slip additive.

2.   After mixing LiquidTint, split the 5 gallons of StencilCoat into 2 five gallon pails.Add 1/2 the pail of GripSil into each pail and mix for 1 to 2 minutes.

3.   Wipe the sides of the pails down with a spatula, pour 1/2 a pint of water over the surface of each pail and let sit for 3 to 5 minutes to allow the absorption of the liquid into the GripSil. Remix and add up to 1/2 pint of water into each 1/2 pail of StencilCoat. Consistency of the coating should be between running and dripping off the mixing paddle.

4.   For part batch mixes, ensure correct amounts of LiquidTint and GripSil anti-slip additive are used to ensure satisfactory results. For part batch mixes, 2 pounds or 4 cups of GripSil per 1 gallon of StencilCoat is recommended. Mix thoroughly for two minutes. Detailed part batch mixing instructions are available.
